Lighter fluid!!! works great on the bearing!!!! Mean Green on the rest, but lighter fluid is awesome. I replace the bearings with ceramic - they were expensive but I don't have to worry about replacing them for a long long time. once you learn how to break them down you can completely disaaseble them and put them back together no problem.

You can use kerosene as well as the "parts" are concerned but the lighter fluid on the bearings is crucial - try it you will be amazed, and definately clean the anti reverse bearings and grease them - they will be funky. I'll try to find the "super tuning" page I used when I did mine, I gained 20+ more yards per cast!!!!

Do you actually lube up that anti reverse bearing..........I've always heard not to put any oil or grease on it.......BUT this time around I did.

Just to be clear, this is the little grey or light green plastic hub with 5 roller bearings in it.......and the handle sleeve runs through it, right??

yep, and I always lube them because there is no seal around them and could be a place moisture could seap in and the grease would help repel that, plus it's a bearing none the less and grease will help from premature failure. That bearing is designed to only spin one way giving you the anti reverse and I check that sleeve closely and slick it up with steel wool or anything like that if there is any build up on it, be sure to sand flat the little brass shim on the spool brake there is alawys a little dimple causing drag on your spool - like the super tuning directions say.

The super tuning is awesome but is a little time consuming which is why I do them over the winter for next year.
