    Check Trailer Tires

Just a bit of info on trailer tires. I had a gash in the side of one of my tires and when I took it off the trailer the extreme inside was warn down BAD. The rest of the tire was in OK shape but def needed changed. If the rest of the tire looks good from the outside, the inside may be worn down pretty good. I am guessing it is from running low pressure in the tire.

    1. Make sure tires are properly inflated
    2. Check the inside wall of your tires for wear.

    Will save you money

P.S. Lee tire in LEX has very great shape used trailer tires for $40

Pay attention to their age as well no matter how well you take care of them. My Dad was draggin his to Barren a few weeks ago and it was really rough to pull like the tires were flat spotted from sittin. His tires are cleaned and dried after every trip and stored in a garage... in the winter they are jacked up on stands to get weight off of them, and they are rotated and balanced yearly. He had 50% + tread life left on teh tires, but they are pushing 15 years old...

turns out the belts seperated inside the tire despite all the steps to care for them...

Tandem axle trailers are especially rough on the inside of both back tires.....check and rotate them regularly!

Don't forget about the spare tire either. Make sure it has plenty of air in it.

Found out the hard way that trailer tires need 45-55 PSI of air(depending on tire). I was doing a great job at keeping them at 32 like my vehicles. Cost me the price of 2 new tires.

most all travel trailers are delivered to the dealer with bias ply tires. Many buyers have them changed out for radials. If your willing to run bias ply on your trailer this is a great source for used tires. I got 5 205st-14 tires for the boat for $125.00
