My brother and I fished Barren today. It was a little tougher than the last time I was down there. Seems like the fish are scattered and not in a tight school actively feeding. The lake is now summer pool or pretty close and they are not pulling the lake like they were. Water temps were mid to upper 80's and the lake was pretty clear. We caught around 20 or so today with our best five around 12 lbs. Early we caught schooling fish with senkos and jerkbaits but they were not the right size. Then we started fishing offshore and our size went up. Seemed like most of the active fish were in 12-15 feet of water. We did graph quite a few fish deeper but could not get them to bite. When we went offshore we caught fish on deep cranks, carolina rigs and one on a strike king spoon. The biggest fish was around 3 1/2 and it was caught on a strike king 6xd in chartreuse sexy shad. Not a bad day on the water the breeze kept it from being a scorcher.
