I fish ponds that I randomly find in housing divisions and I came across a set of three small ponds in this division about a week ago and I have been there about 3 times since than and the fishing is incredible. Two of the ponds are completely covered by moss and the only thing I can use is a topwater frog I have caught at least 4 bass and the smallest being 14 inches and the biggest being 25 inches and 5 lbs. I think the average length has been 18 -22 inches. They are really keying in on that topwater bite due to the moss on the ponds keeping the water cool. The third pond has moss but not that much so there is some open wated pockets and lanes as I like to call them. I have mainly been using a wacky rig with a 5 inch black worm and a red spinnerbait and I have been killing bass every SINGLE cast and they are averaging 20 inches at least. BUT the best part is on saturday at about 9 at night I was just about to leave due to the storms blowing in and I was using a wacky rig with about a third of the worm left because the bass and torn apart the rest of it. I threw the worm out about 3 feet from shore where I saw a dark figure and SLAM something grabbed it, I did not have much line out so I just flipped the fish onto shore and it was a 13 inch bluegill (not any hybrid) that weighed in at a little over 2 lbs. I was amazed by the size I have been fishing for at least 20 years and have never caught or seen one that big. I am in the process of getting a replica made to put on the wall. Anyways for anyone that loves to fish PONDS are HOT RIGHT NOW!!!

Nope, I dont do any big lake fishing anymore, I have had way better luck with the ponds and canals, the bass bite has been crazy for the last two weeks!
Lake fishing isnt bad 3 teams with 25lbs yesterday on Patoka and took almost 18lbs to get a check. I would call that hot!
That is definitely pretty good, it use to be that you would get a little less quality bass in ponds due to the area and coverage but lately I have been catching 4-5 lb fish regularly and I wont complain about that!
I dont remember seeing alot of the locals in the top and I think there were around 83 boats. Full results will be posted tomorrow on Hoosier Open website. It also took 14lbs at Rocky Point 2 weeks ago with 12 lbs being second. The river has been pretty good this year though
only thing i can find hot right now is the sun
I am telling you if anyone wants to catch some nice bass try finding a couple ponds and guarantee you will have luck, plus its good to get to the basics sometimes without all the high tech equipment.
ponds are just too easy...lol
I agree with embrey on this one. Ponds dont do much for me anymore. Anyone can catch bass and big bass out of ponds. So much more rewarding to me to find and catch bass on big public water.
