Yes its true that fish live in the thermocline but that is false that atmospheric pressure is the same everywhere. In a lake things change dependent on the size the area of water so if fish are not biting in one place just drive your boat 10 minutes and you can catch them, but with ponds due to the lack of size if they are not biting it means that you are not going to catch them anywhere and you have to work harder to actually find out what if anythin they will bite. Fishing pressure does play a factor but really in my experience to the size of the fish not that much into if you can catch fish at all.
