Not my intent at all. Just pointing out how some on the right act like this is a recent issue that has only come about since Obama has been in office. It isn't. Its been a problem through a number of presidents, both repub and dem. Immigration is a federal issue, not a state issue. That is the problem with the Arizona law. I think we are all in agreement that illegal immigration is a real issue that needs to be addressed, and fixed. It is broke right now. Even Obama has noted that we are failing on this point. Ordered 1200 national guard troops to the border as a short-term fix. I don't recall previous presidents doing anything to address the issue either. There has to be several things done. One is that we have to stop businesses from hiring illegals. If there are no jobs, you limit reasons to come here. Second, you have to stop people from crossing the border illegally. Trying to do this state by state will make things more difficult in the long run. Simplified, but you get the idea.

Again, the original post was a forwarded email. Probably 99% of the forwarded emails I have read over the last several years have been either complete bs, or the truth is stretched so far as to make them worthless. I get tired of seeing crap like this and people treating the bs as gospel. Thus my saterical response.

I don't think anybody took that one at total gospel, I mean read it closely, lol. It was as Don said humerous. Also nobody said that former administrations were'nt also floundering on this huge issue. However undermining and smearing what Arizona is trying to do is making matters worse and empowering the illegals to actually believe Obama and his people are on THEIR side. Eric the MORON Holder even made reference to Gov Brewer as uneducted because she had never been to college, big frickin deal and that's relevant how???? I work with educated idiots everyday, college doesn't make everybody smarter it makes some people dumbasses.

If Arizona ''STATE'' law could gain hold and make headwave and get Government support, maybe, just maybe it would catch fire throughout the country and we could move forward in a positive direction in solving this huge complex issue, that's all I'm saying. And as long as Barry and his lapdog keep getting on TV and Meet The Press and trash what they are trying to do it only destroys it's possibilties.

Passing new laws may make some people feel good because they're "doing something," but we're not going to make any headway against illegal immigration until we have a secure border. The Arizona Senator in the link DJD posted points out himself how much worse Arizona's problem has gotten now that California and El Paso have erected better fences. It doesn't make any difference what the laws are here, people are going to stream across the border until we make it physically impossible, or at least very difficult, for them to do so. And after watching that interview, I'm even more convinced than ever that if the intent of this law is really what its proponents say it is, namely, removing restrictions on police officers from doing their jobs, then it's totally unnecessary in the first place. All it does is tell police officers they have to do their jobs. They already have the authority to check immigration status, where reasonable cause exists. All this law does is tell them to do so. So it's a law that tells law enforcement that they have to enforce the law. Doesn't that seem a little ridiculous? If Phoenix and other cites have "sanctuary policies" in place, where cops are told NOT to enforce the law, then aren't those policies themselves illegal? I mean, they're policies, not laws. Getting rid of THOSE is the answer, not passing new laws.

Roadtoad it's a little more extensive than that, the penalties are much greater and deportation is stepped up. Instead of their customary one or two nights in jail and then release, to which they just keep on coming. I haven't read it all but it's quite a bit more than you are stating.

I agree with RT, the Arizona laws are nothing more then feel good legislation. Until the border is secure with a fence or other some sort of strong deterrent to have to cross, people will still come in. After all isnt illegal immigration illegal and there fore all illegal immigrants criminals? Why would they care about an extra law or two?

We need a SECURE BORDER more then anything. We need a fence, we need armed posts, and we need more boots on the ground. I dont want more laws and more infringement on my or any other citizens freedoms, just a secure border. On a side note, the original post is bogus, I know for a fact that foreigners can buy waterfront property in Mexico.
