Most of us who fish for catfish agree that cut bait or live bait is best. ( skips, Shad, Bluegill, etc.)
Has anyone tried Dip bait? I have tried the nugget like stinkbait and it did "Decent"
Is dip bait worth trying?

You're probably right that cut bait or live shiners are the bes baits for cats, but, back when I ran trotlines years ago, I switched to nightcrawlers because the gars wouldn't steal my bait. I was fishing for food, though, not river monsters.
And, sorry, but I can't answer your question about the synthetic baits and dips.
I started using dip bait and furry thang hooks this year. Its does catch fish, I have yet to catch a big one on it, and really don't expect to, but have caught a bunch of eaters. Last time out it outfished everything we had in the boat. The downside is its nasty if you get it on you, and a tub doesn't last long. But its worth a shot.
I like dip baits. Cattracker Baits make good dips. So is Mr. Whiskers. I have been told but not yet tried Little Stinker catapa (available at Walmart) is good.
You are quick to fishing. No catching or cutting up bait. Just dip, stir, and cast. I catch eating size fish, up to 7 lbs, and that is all I really want. Oh someday I might so with somebody and try cut bait or live bait for a really big one, but I am satisfied with 3 and 4 lb fish.
