Had a nice float on a creek today. Caught a bunch of smallmouth that hit right as I was lifting my plug from the water at the boat. I must've had at least 10 bass nail it with less than two feet of line out. Some nice ones too.
I asked myself why they might doing this and came to the conclusion that the pause was triggering a strike from a fish that had been eyeing my plug. So, I added a few pauses in each retrieve and my catch rate went up.
Man, I caught oodles of bass.
Just goes to show that if you pay attention, you might learn something.
