Here is my tip for you, as we have been fishing the tailwaters for the past 2 weeks:

Get yourself a kayak (or a canoe) and fish way past the dam. We have been going down stream and catching some 2-3 pound bass and several rock bass. the bass fishing has actually been pretty good during the heat of mid-day, and you can always tie on a rope gar lure and fish for some of the HUGE gar that patrol the waters.

we have been using 4" worms with some GREAT success.
