I know of a place or two that have a lot of carp and think it would be fun to get into sight fishing for them with a fly rod.

That article is pretty much dead on. Not sure if it was my setup being in a boat vs. wading. I wade Trammel Creek for Trout and those Carp seem to spook easier, but I'm sure it's my wading..... These fish didn't seem as spooky till I either hit them on the head with the fly or line them or just made a big mistake with the trolling motor (like hitting bottom or a tree stump). I was casting within a few feet and could pickup and cast again without spooking a lot of them.
