Super long casts if they didn't hit it the first few cranks they wouldn't hit it as the current would take it and I feel lure would lose it's action. Fast water was holding them. Thats first time since 91' I didn't have my boat. Hope it rains me out tomorrow. Thought that might of been you sitting in one of them chairs in the middle of the river.

Thanks for the info. No, not me in the chair!!, but sounds good, was I catching anything, He..Hee. Sounds like you were at what I would call "Indian Creek" as opposed to Rowena, but same area, downstream of Kendall, downstream of Hatchery Creek, next stop, what used to be an unimproved gravel ramp, "Indian Creek".

    Thanks again for the info.

I mentioned bringing a Yak. Is it possible that the water can be so swift that paddling back up stream could be difficult? If so how possible at this time of year? Just curious if anyone on here has done this. I was thinking of putting in around Kendall Campgound at the unimproved ramp and floating down a few miles.

DJD, Give me a PM. Let's see what we can work out with KNOW1 (don't have a boat, but understand KNOW1 might have an extra). We could put in at Kendell and float to Helms and then have ME WIFE pick us up there...(now that's still up in the air, but you just might talk her into it) . Lots of good spots to get out and wade gravel bars on the way down. Oh, I assume we would be Catch and Release; only way I fish the GREAT CUMBERLAND RIVER!

KNOW1, what you think? Any dates good for you? Flies, Lies and Spinners on the Cumberland!

    Gary,
Thanks for thinking of me. I definitely have an extra kayak that you are more than welcome to use and it sounds like something I'd really like to do.

I actually paddled up the Dix last weekend with Don and Andrew.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty busy the next 2-3 weeks. I'm going on vacation for a week and a half in there and before and after I'll be preparing to go and then catching up from going. Plus, my cousin is coming down the days before I leave and we've got a paddle up the Dix on the agenda as well as a Striper trip to Cumberland.

I probably couldn't consider it until the week of September 6.

    Michael,
Know what you mean, only so many hours in the day. Maybe later in September we can get together. For now, looks like Don, (Andrew?) and I will try to do a float trip in the next week or two. Depends on weather and COE (TVA) discharge from Wolf Creek Dam.

Mark ,let me check the wind direction...sniff...sniff...thank you are OK. Your always welcome.. Just let me know . Are you open for the next weekend? If discharge levels remain as they are now, OR hope they might be reduced; fishing should be GREAT!
