I'd say because hes a Muslim from Kenya. The mosque is something that he can be very proud of. After all his main goal for U.S is to reach out to the Muslim world, show them how much we love them and approve of their way of life. You think this is bad wait until they start protesting for their Sharia Law like they have done in the U.K.

Everything that this Pres and administration does is proof of why people like me are stocking up on ammo and food.

So big deal, there are over 10islamic mosques in Ky, I'm not for anything muslim, infact I believe all non american muslims shpud be deported.But the constitution unfortunatly says something about freedom of religion.That building will not be the only islamic site in that area.

" His approval wasn't needed in order for it to be built, he was just making a comment. He said it was legal for them to build it, but "unwise." He should have just kept his yap shut. Being the head of the Executive Branch, not the Judicial Branch, the question of its legality was not before him, and now, if it somehow ends up going to the Supreme Court and they allow it, opponents will say he prejudiced the case, and rightly so. And if he was going to comment, calling it "unwise" was the understatement of the year. "Insensitive" would have closer, but still quite an understatement.

That said, I think he's right that it's legal. There's probably no constitutional way to stop it. So, we can either rip up the Constitution and block it (a victory for the terrorists), or we can allow them to build it, and give them the middle finger for doing so.

You are right RoadToad, he should have kept his mouth closed on it. I think his popularity will go down even further now. I hear the major of NYC is very pro building it. I dont think they cant stop Muslims from building a mosgue since they bought the building BUT it doesnt have to be built there! If the real purpose of Muslims is to have a place of worship then build it someone else in NYC that has a large Muslim community. If they insist that it has to be there then that should show all people who support what their real intent is, right? All I can say if they proceed and build it, who is to say how long it will be standing? Who can say that a distraught survivor of Sept 11th or a family member wont bomb it. Karma says what goes around comes around. I think that applies to Muslims.

This is the difference in Islam and TRUE peaceful religions... Just like teh Black community, the muslims feed on negative press and the politically orrect's sympathy. Any other religion that trully seeks peace would just move their site somewhere else to avoid the confrontation (you can worship just as good somewhere else)... but these Muslims love the controversy and will therefore puch to build it here. This in my opinion just proves that they are not as peaceful a religion as they claim to be...

In otherwords.. its legal for them to build there and nobody can stop them but themselves... this is where we find out just how much integrity they have...

I'm for religious freedom also. Thats why I think the Mosque should be treated the same way the Greek Orthidox church that got destroyed by one of the collapsing towers is being treated by the same people that want the mosque built. I like BO's opinion that local authorities should have the final decision(they do anyway) even though the terrorist attacked the entire U.S. not just New York. Now he needs to leave AZ alone. I say bring back Nativities, ten commandments, star of David, ect. and post them around ground zero. Everyone should be very happy with all the religious freedom we have then. As for schools, I say instead of throwing out religion, we throw out the government and let the local people that BO want to make decisions, decide what goes on in there. I'm for strong local government and limited fed government.
