Re: BPS told me that they now require a receipt to warranty Shimano Rods.......

That's the way it was the last time I had to exchange a Compre rod, and that was well over 6 months ago. The receipt that I have for the rod is faded and unreadable so I don't know what they are going to do with it...............

I broke a Shimano Spinning Rod I purchase from a guy on this forum and took it to BPS and had no problems at all. That was about 6-8 weeks ago. In fact they did not have a like spinning rod and I chose a baitcaster rod that I preferred but retailed for $10 less than the Spinning Rod. They traded and also gave me a gift certificate for the $10 plus taxes. Maybe I got them on a good day?

NOT BPS ,nor Shimano, but related to customer service and companies backing up their product, "Zebco".

Broke the end off one of their "Indestructible" rods which I use for crappie fishing. Totally my fault and I told them so. Didn't know when/where I purchased it, much less have a receipt and told them so. What did they do?. Sent me a New Rod, postage free! Now how about that for customer service!

Cool Re: BPS told me that they now require a receipt to warranty Shimano Rods.......

this problem is not a recent issue, i had trouble with them standing behind BPS products 2 years ago (not another company's merchandise but the actual stuff with BPS on the side of it). i do all my business with cabelas and just returned a $ 300 bait tank with no questions asked. the defect was in no way cabelas responsibility but they even emailed me the return ups return label. great customer service.
if i am in the market for rods or reels i always deal with "tackledirect.com"
usually they beat everybodys price and most of the time you can wrangle free shipping out of them. they are great to deal with.

I didn't realize so many people returned fishing rods. Maybe that's why they require receipts. I've never even thought of it, then again I've never really bought an expensive fishing rod.

You know...when I started replacing my Loomis rods with Cumara's the BIGGEST reason was for the warranty.

Now, I'm to believe that they will no longer honor that over the counter warranty.....to me, that is TOTAL BS.

I know for a FACT the two that I have purchased from BPS, I asked them specifically if they'd warranty them over the counter...the answer YES.....

If places stop with the over the counter stuff, I will NO LONGER purchase any shimano gear......WHY should I.

They are just like drug dealers.......get you hooked on a product, and then BAM........Hammer AWAY.

Your problem is not with Shimano...it is with BPS...take it to a local shop that sells Shimano and exchange it there.

You know.......you're RIGHT.......I'm so close to BPS that it makes it easy to shop there. I also spend quite a bit locally at A20. When I'm at KY Lake, I always hit the Cabin a couple times and now hopefully......fishermans warehouse again.

I'll have to wait and see how that plays out.........

BTW.......I cannot wait to start my "fall" fishing this year. I have at least 5 trips planned to KY and have a full week down there the last week of october.......CANNOT WAIT.

    Later,

    Geo
