Raffle for Fishing For Kids

Fishing For Kids is trying to raise money in these hard times. The usually sponsors that normally donate have cut back and we need to fill the void as a organization. So FFK has come up (at our last meeting) with a raffle for either a 308 Weatherby Rifle or $500 cash. Now here is the sweet part-the person or organization that sells the winning ticket also gets to choose between the rifle and the cash prize. The person or organization should put their name on the back of the tickets they sell and turn in. Now I and a couple others have decided to put FFK on the back of the ones we sell and Fishing For Kids gets to keep the $500 cash. Tickets are $5.00 each or 3 for $10.00.
Drawing will be at our last quarterly FFK/Mid Ky Bass banquet meeting on Nov .7th 2010

Have you guys thought about trying to get guides to donate trips for raffle?

I get about 3 or 4 requests each month asking me to donate trips for this cause and that cause. I made a rule long ago about donating trips. I do not donate more than 5 trips per year and only to causes such as those linked to fund raisers for Kosair's or St. Judes Childrens Hospitals or for raffles to assist a family that has suffered a devastatiing loss. Wish I could do more but basically a person can only donate a day of pay so many times a year. Also, when we donate a trip, in most cases we are also out the trip expenses unless the person that wins the trip offers a good tip at the end of the trip..this only happens about half the time.

I wonder how many of the folks that are asking us guides to donate a trip are donating a day of their pay or more to the cause...not many I suspect. We guides do not get paid vacations...a day donated is a day's pay lost and as mentioned above probably more because of expenses incurred.

FFK is a great cause...and if you can afford to donate a trip, then go for it....I am buying some tickets myself and have already told Eddie that if I win then FFK can keep the money I won.

Thanks Dave for the thread. I do the same each year and most of the time its for the same organizations (kosairs takes good care of my daughter each month she goes for treatments)and I always dontae 3 trips each year for the caring place here in this region.
