while I am very surprised many of our strip pits in the area are in fall turnover already, it seems the most clear of the pits have been heated very deep from the incesant heat this summer and the cool nights lately have loward surface temp to the point that turnover is occuring very early this year, I have personnaly witness this on 4 different pits in the forest
