Re: The End of the War
Dangerousdave, thanks for sharing. I hear you about friends dieing from cancer (and of course just from living). I am not sure what you mean by “get checked for cancer”!! I get a yearly physical, including prostate, and see my Dr anytime in between if something happens, but other than a periodic chest X-Ray, I don’t have anything specific for cancer. So, far I have been pretty healthy and I thank God for it.
Exposure to Agent Orange—I AM SURE OF IT. I was with the 11th Armored Cavalry in 1967-1968 during which we were all over the Saigon Bien Hoa area as well as in War Zones C and D. I was there when we went to the aid of the Special Forces at Loc Ninh in December and went into Cambodia around the Parrot’s Beak and Fishhook. Oops, I forgot we misread our maps and we really were not in Cambodia at that time, officially we were still in Viet Nam. Anyhow, we did go after the VC on the Ho Chi Min Trail in that area and I am sure, from the looks of it, it had been hit heavily with Agent Orange. Believe me, I am aware of the possibilities, but thanks for the advice and concern.
