Re: Proposed Ban on Lead Fishing Tackle

I am going to have to disagree on this one. Your facts are off base - the Ohio river has cleaned up much from the 60s and 70s and the fish contamination while not gone has improved. I agree that where real polluction and issues exist (like DDT) I am all for dealing with but lead from hunting and fishing has never been linked to any kind of contamination except for isolated cases where birds have ingested shot and have been poisoned. The wholesale ban of lead used for hunting and fishing is nothing more than a typical liberal ploy to control our freedoms. What could be more political?

Here is the bottom line folks.....you have the message...if you are in favor of stopping the ban on lead used in fishing tackle then follow the links above and make yourself heard. If you in favor of banning lead in fishing tackle, then contact your representatives and make yourself heard.

I am locking this thread...it is turning into and Obama love and hate political discussion...this site is about fishing....take the political discussions somewhere else.

Re: Proposed Ban on Lead Fishing Tackle

I honestly feel that the bottom line is this, if we the american people dpn't start standing up and saying " We have had enough!" then this and many others activities along with our lives will get much much worse and the do gooders will be running everything for us because they know what is best for us. The fact is that most I repeat, MOST of the lead that is in our water comes from factory discharges. Period As for lead banned for waterfowl use, try this, I did. Put about 4"s of mud in a jar and then fill it with water. Put some lead pellets in it and wait. The pellets end up on the bottom of the jar over time and I have never seen nor know of any duck that sticks its bill 4"s or more in the mud to eat anything. It's all a hoax except that there are people in this world that simply want to run our lives because they feel they know whats better for the rest of us. Instead of listening to everyone else including myself, is it not better to think for yourself and form your own conclusions? I have heard it said, " I can educate you but I cannot teach you to think" If lead is a serious problem that we are told it is then I would be happy to use something else. However, think about this, lead as been around forever and how many people do you know that have lead poison?
