Now lets look at the reference to "special interest groups". The NRA is a special interest group. Yes I support the NRA and I am a member of a special interest group. So the lable of special interest group is really abused. Special interest groups do help by making people aware of all the issues involved in a issue or subject and can serve as a checks and balances mechanism.
So it appears that special interest groups have a good purpose as well.
So lets leave the politicts out of this board. Obama really does not control science studies. Lobby for issues that are of concern to you but try to stick to the facts and leave the left wing/right wing crap to the politicians.
