Ill agree to this as long as Joker Phillips lets his offensive coordinator call the plays... and keeps his nose out of offensive play calling... Im just sayin
Decent game overall for both sides. I think that if it were not for conservative playcalling the game could have been alot more lop sided. But thats Joker!
Ol splitshot called it pretty close on the score.
Yeah, if our extra point kicker wasn't a waterhead, there would be 4 more points on the UK side. (Missed extra point, missed field goal inside 20 yards)
Louisville just came out disoriented and got stunned on that 2-play opening drive for a score. They didn't really play any defense at all for the first little bit. Kentucky had some favorable plays early, and the Cobb-Locke combination moved the ball. A combination of us getting a big lead, laying down a bit into conservative play calling, and Louisville waking up and playing ball brought the game closer. The roughing the passer call on us late could have been a difference maker if it have led to a Louisville score.
We have defensive issues. We have special teams issues. Thankfully, we had a few more explosive rushers than Louisville did today.
This rivalry between Phillips and Strong will become legendary in time. Both will keep adding talent to the rosters, and Strong will have Louisville up and going before long. They will get into a pattern and win a few games. I hope Louisville doesn't expect too much this year out of him, but if they will give him time, he'll do some damage. Talent dictates play calling...or at least it should. Keep the talent in the pipeline and the play calling will follow for both teams. It will be fun to watch.
GO CATS.
