Kentucky river frankfort pool

River is in really good shape. Shad are schooled up, dark clouds of them one after the other. Caught several nice smallmouths mostly off rocky points with shinners. Did'nt get out till 10:30, caught these from around 11:30 to 1:30 in the afternoon. Bet they were really turning on t early this morning.

Upper pool from lock 4. Be careful on the river. The flood pushed a lot of trees out in the channel. Those trees have very large branches under the surface that extend out 30-40 feet. Be sure to idle only around those trees and steer well clear of them on a plane. The pool is really low as well (under 7 foot) so stay in the channel when running. Some of the rocky points extend out 100+ feet where depth can be one foot. Pull your lower unit up close to the bank and use trolling motor.
