    Has this happend 2 u?

Really not sure how much moon phases REALLY have an effect on fishing but ill tell ya this the last few times that I have went on moonless nights (new moon) has been very very tough. been night fish the last few weeks to get out of the summer heat and the lazy bass just hang out in deep cool water and hit them at night when they are to be more active and We have had some really good nights. But the last 2 times that we have went on the new moon or moonless nights man oh man no fish! We went last night for about 8 hours and my buddy had 1 bit and as for me, goose egg. Not even a bite! And i most of the time (not to brag) bust em! we threw it all at them I mean it all. And fished all kinds of places too. points, deep water, up close, rock walls, coves, flats you name it we tried it. 1 time we even just when out in the middle of barren lake and started casting just to see what would happen lol Its was crazy to say the least. Has anyone out there had a night like this and if so...... ? WHAT IS GOING ON!?!? does it have any thing to do with new moon or what?

i dont buy the moon thing. sometimes it hits good ,sometimes not. i had my best night this year on what should have been the crappiest night ever going by the moon. i meant to leave at midnight cause i had stuff to do the next day...i left at 5 AM...lol. and had to force myself to leave then. i boated at least 30 and lost more than that. they were crushing everything so hard they wouldnt hook up.good fish too..

I'd way rather fish with the moon coming up.In other words new moon going toward first quarter. Most times on bright moonlit nights I do my best to hunt shaded spots. The moon can help lots of times, but to much moonlight will hurt too. Did you ever notice the bait fish come up on darker moonlit nights versus the bright nights. A lot of times they'll come up when the moon comes up at say around two to three oclock in the morning & the bass will start feeding in them. The Smallmouth do this a lot on Green River & when it happens it's on. This is when the moon is on the down phase going toward new moon. Have caught a bunch of nice Smallmouth on Green late at night doing just this & we're talking about lots of fish around 4Lb.

The moon phase is one of several factors that affect fish and game patterns. It is a piece of the puzzle in a game that is not about putting all the pieces together, but more about trying to locate all the dang pieces to begin with.

The new moon is a good time for night fishing. I would say that strong cold front and possibly the boat traffic this weekend may have done more to mess up the night bite than just the moon phase. I didn't night fish and just sparsely day fished being in family mode but the bite on the big lakes was off for me too and I think the front and change in weather was the culprit...
