    Question Barren predictions

Hey guys I didn't know if any of you fish Barren quite a bit but I have a classic this Saturday and have been watching the lake this last couple of weeks and have been paying attention to how much they are pulling and the water elevation. I realize that by Saturday the 11th they will more than likely be done unless we get some more rain, which is in the forecast. I know a lot of people tend to struggle fishing a lake that has falling water and myself is included in that list. My question to you guys that are around the lake often and know it well is do you think it will be a bad tournament? It will be back to summer pool or close to it and I would think that most people won't have an issue catching 14-16lbs but an 18lb bag would probably be hard to come by.. Just wanted to see what some of you guys thought?
    Thanks in advance.
    Cole

    Re: Barren predictions

I doubt they will be done pulling it. It may be right at summer pool but this is right about the time they start pulling it down to winter pool. In a "normal" year they have it about 1/2-1 1/2 foot below summer pool by mid to late September.

    Good luck with the tourney.

Barren starts a slow drawdown on Sept. 15 and then they really hammer hard on Oct. 15 to get it to winter pool. It will be at summer pool by your tournament and if I had to guess it would be about 19# to guarantee a check with a great chance of winning.

    Re: Barren predictions

Wednesday Night it took over 10lbs to win. (3 fish) Fishing is getting better, last Wednesday it took 6.5 lbs to win with 3.5 being second.
Fish are transitioning. I would go shallow early. Spoons, traps, exe. A ton of short fish are being caught shallow with some accasional keepers. I probably wouldnt fish deeper than 8'.

    Re: Barren predictions

I was going to target 8-12ft of water mainly and maybe go a little shallower.. I have always had my better luck staying out off the bank a little bit and fish Peter-South... I know there will be a lot of people in the river and I don't plan on making it all the way down there..
