You may get your topwater action sooner than I thought. I was at Nolin this morning and the temps were in the 77 to 80 degree range, so the temps are falling faster than I thought they would.
I didn't get any jumps like they were getting last week but caught a bunch of 10 to 15" fish on crankbaits and tubes--ALL WERE IN UNDER FIVE FEET OF WATER. I didn't try any thing else because what I was doing was working (smile).
On another note: I love retirement!! It is great to be able to fish during the weekdays and leave the weekends to the poor working stiffs. I put in at Iberia about 7 AM and fished until Noon and only saw two other boats, one of which was at the ramp when I was leaving. Only four or five vehicles in the parking lot. It also helps that we are now past Labor Day and the summer boaters/anglers are finished for the year.

trolled on barren thursday, started about 10am, caught 4 channels 3 bass and some yellow bass, fish were on the flats near beaver creek ramp. only saw 4 boats, but didn't stay very long.
What type of bait were you trolling? If you don't mind sharing, otherwise I will understand.
dont mind at all. star5ted with a 3 inch rapalla floating model, this was attached to luhr jensen diver #10, so I was trolling about 12 ft over the shallow flats. Then switched to a blue3 silver hot n tot.this bait runs about 12 to 14 ft over deeper flats. When I went close to the banks I put on a small deep diving jointed rap which with the diver ran about 15 ft. On Dale I used to t6roll a jensen # 20 with a rouge, this worked well at 20 ft.The lurh jensens are a nice tool, but require a good stout rod, and I use power pro 20/6 for my line.
