Stripers Today

Fished Cumberland last night & wore the spots out & caught a few Largemouth too. No Smallmouth, however did loose 2 pretty good fish. Saw a lot of baitfish & never saw a single Striper or any other fish for that matter floating. There were some pretty big fish of some kind busting on top every now & then that I thank were Striper. I think the worst is over hopefully.

hey les know what you mean, it was probably the BEST day of spot fishing ive had in ten years, the 12 spots we kept that we cleaned filled two gallon bags with filets. this morning was a different story though, kinda got wet for nothing.

Thats great news. I might have to switch gears again and instead of going to Norris this fall just might stay with cumberland. I will keep close tabs on reports though because the fact is we just don't know how bad it was. I still say that while they are working on the dam they might as well put in an aeration system to help get the stripers and walleye through the summer months. Cherokee did that and put restrictions on the stripers. They also started stocking hybrid stripers to take pressure off the stripers. I love that lake. I'm not advocating hybrids being stocked, no my point is that TN jumped all over the problem and got results. I wouldn't mind seeing trout being stocked to go along with the aeration system. Striper candy!

hey morone, we have 3 boats planning to go to norris in november as soon as we get our deer tags filled. when were you thinking about going?
its been 6 years since i have been to norris but we did ok the last time we went. by the way, it was AWFUL below the dam today, it STINKS so bad from all the stiper and walleye carcases. i know we didnt lose all the stripers but it is sickening to see just how many we did lose. it does look like its over ? i hope its over?
