Now 2 moderators are arguing, on the boards (not in email), about to moderate the boards. I don't see how you guys can expect the rest of us to follow the rules when you yourselves don't.....

You are right, I should not have questioned Grumpy's moderation on the board. I later deleted my comment to him and we had an email conversation afterwards. Count that towards me being an imperfect human. We are all allowed a little slack from time to time. For example, me cutting you a little slack with your comment here. Oooo the irony

Thanks for that. I have to admit, I've gotten my fair share of slack. Flack, too . If I believed in astrology, I'd have to wonder if Mercury is in retrograde.

Roadtoad, after I made that earlier post I remembered that in search for a religion that I could join, I had read a version of the koran (then called the Quaran) as well as the holy books for many other religions but I didn't see any need to correct the statement because I did not have any interest in Islam. Far be it from me to blame it on getting chronologically enhanced but I don't remember what most of the other holy books were either. That being said I stand by my statements.

Thanks JCB, yes, I have been fortunate in many ways. I have been a voracious reader from an early age. I didn’t go to college so you would be surprised at the “boring” books that I have read voluntarily. That is especially so with books, magazines, newspapers, etc. that provide (provided) opinions and/or information contrary to popular beliefs. I learned early on that I can gain a better insight into what I do believe, think or understand by reading things contrary to what I believe, think or understand. I think that one can often gain more from those that disagree with us, than from those that agree with us. Sometimes, I even lay verbal traps to get an opposing view from others, and I don’t mean just on Fishin.com. Also contrary to what APB may think, I don’t lock threads because someone disagrees with me, I only lock them when someone becomes disagreeable.

Ok, so you've read both the Koran and Bible and seen references to violence, oppression, love, and compasion in both. Why the intolerance of Islam and not the same for Christianity?

Because Christianity does not have as a basic precept from its founder to "convert them (all non-believers) or kill them." My understanding is that Chirst taught his people to "love thy neighbor" and to love all peoples, regardless of their beliefs or anything else and even one's enemies. To me that is the biggest difference. Regardless of the qualifiers that Roadtoad tries to insert, the "kill them or convert them" is the main cause of my belief that Islam is a violent religion.
