fish bite a nolin

I don't know Ky Lake or Barkley well enough to fish them, besides too far for me to drive to. Now as far as Nolin..it's like my 2nd Home..Love the lake and the time your headed to fish it will be awesome.....Buzz bait time for sure and rat-L-traps for sure. If things slow down, toss out a senko in Red and black color......

Went to Nolin yesterday afternoon with my f-in-law, and it was the weirdest thing.....we got there around 4pm and just starting nailing them right off with buzzes and plastics. Of course, the bigger fish came from the plastics....except for one dandy 3lb lm that fell pray to my perfectly casted buzz under a cliff overhang....he was just sitting there and couldn't resist! WAMMO! That was fun! Then, around 6pm, when you think things would really turn on........they turned completely off??? We only had a couple hits from then till dark....so we took off. Overall, fun day on Nolin.

yea i hope, down here a girl makes balsa wood floating buzz baits they work every where,and senkoes i have tons of them. just watching the water temps and how fast they drope the lake.

they begin pulling the lake a foot a day on 10/15, makes the crayfish go crazy ,get a Rebel Crawdad crankabait and have a blast ,both main lake points at the mouth of dog creek.....

That pattern has worked since 1976..

can't wait to see the lake drop some more, cause i know of a honey hole that will pop out into view that gives up some really nice fat Ky Bass on a shakey head. Man this is my time of the year for fishin Nolin....woooooot

By the looks of it, they have already slowly started pulling Nolin down for nearly the past three weeks or so. Looks to be about 4ft down from summerpool the last time I was there. I imagine they will open the flood gates in Oct then.....I'm excited to try the crawdad pattern cranks this fall.....love that lake!

Rich, not sure what you thought you saw, but Nolin has been steady at Summer pool all summer long except for a brief 1.5-2 foot rise in late July from the last big rains. The corps site shows it 2.5 INCHES below summer pool as of this morning...you can check it anythime you want at this URL.... http://www.lrl.usace.army.mil/wc/reports/lkreport.html

As JFW said, they always draw it down around 2 feet beginning in 9/15 through 10/15 (less than an inch a day). On 10/15, they pull the plug and it will drop around 4-8 inches a day thereafter until it hits 25 feet below pool in December. While they don't always follow this exactly depending on conditions, it is pretty close every year. The 9/15 and 10/15 dates are pretty solid, the outflow may change slightly depending on rains

When they first pull the plug on 10/15'ish is when the crankbait bite really peaks

What I thought I saw was a dropped shoreline....must be the two feet they dropped from the July rain you are talking about. IDK. All I care about is the fish biting my bait. I'll be there tomorrow, so I'll bring my tape measure.

Hey man, wasn't trying to be an @$$, just pointing out to the original guys question that the lake isn't down 4 ft (which is pretty significant)...hope you caught some. Peace.

Lol....don't take anything I say serious...I'm as laid back as they come brother. I ended up not going to NL that day, got busy....and so is life. Peace.
