Have you guys had any luck Jug Fishing for Catfish in these cooler temps? Thought about going next week....
Absolutely. Went last Sat night and caught 14 or 15. Biggest was 26#, most were 10# or better. Fished in 25' water with baits around 20', give or take a couple feet. Barge bite was definitely on as well.
Made day trips with the kiddos last two weekends and caught 5 or 6 both times in only 2 hours each trip. Biggest then was 16#. Kiddos love the juggin'!
Anyone had any luck lately jugging on the lakes around here. I usually fish Barren.
Heard second-hand that bite was good on T-ville now that some of the traffic has slowed down. Area around the "Hump" seems to be most popular during day and night.
where is the "Hump"? I'm taking my boy out on my new 1860 tomorrow for the first time. In 7 trips, I averaged around 30 fish each time a couple years ago.....made for some awesome cookouts. Average size was kinda small though....around 3-4 lbs. Last time at this year though I had about an 8 lb average with 2 around 15 lbs. It's a great place to jug.

If you have a lake map, it is just around the corner from Settler's Trace ramp heading towards the dam. If no map, go towards the dam from Settlers Trace. After rounding corner, head towards middle of lake and you should cross the hump. Water should come up to around 10-12' if memory serves. The channel drops sharply off on the right side of hump (facing dam) and sorta swings around it. Again if memory serves, it is a fairly large area so it should not be too hard to find. It should be after the corner and before the first wooded cove on your right as you are going towards dam.
Well, we tried my old haunt between Chowning and Van Buren and only caught 4 in about 4 hours. Second worst trip I've ever had....small too. However the one decent fish, a 4-5 lb blue had NINE shad in his belly..about 2 inches long each. Can't understand why he was still feeding.
In the past two weeks on two separate visits I"ve caught over 20 cats at T-ville using cut shad on jugs. Going tonight. Will give update later.
how do you guys keep up with them at night? That sounds like a royal pain in the butt. I had 23 noodles out using cut shad, as I always do, and still had rotten luck.
Good luck tonight...need pics![]()

I use milk jugs, or similar type semi-opaque plastic, such as windshield washer fluid jugs, and put a 6" glow stick in it. It makes those jugs glow like a giant ball. I tried 2-liter bottles, but they did not glow as good as the other jugs. However, they are still easy enough to see if you stay in the same general area as the jug. If you use the noodles, stab a slit with a fillet knife and stick a glow stick in the cut. Makes it real easy to see when it stands up.

Caught 6 cats in three hours (not to good) all of them were in the 1-2 lb range. Had plenty of bites though.
I have reflective tape on my jugs and use a spotlight and a small LED flashlight to keep an eye on them.
a friend of mine from work got two nice cats on jugs at buck creek dock this past weekend
