    Re: Monroe County Lake

Just thought I'd repost this as I will be heading down to this little lake on Saturday. Sounds like the weather is going to be about the same as it has been every other day for longer than I can remember. My friend and I are thinking that a fall pattern has not yet emerged so we are expecting a mix early topwater bite, then mid-day being a combo of slower and maybe deeper. Just didn't know if the baitfish were still scattered. Guess we'll find out when we get there. If anyone can offer anything, please feel free. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch.>>>>>>>>>>

A friend of mine and I are interested in coming to the lake in Tompkinsville from the Lexington area. We have fished the lake before but it has been several years since our last trip. Can anyone tell me about the lake conditions? Water color? Has there been any kind of bite in recent days or weeks? I know that more fallish conditions will change things, but right now, there doesnt seem to be much of a let up in summer. Not looking for specifics- just general "starting point" info.Thank you guys in advance for any info you may be able to offer.

    Re: Monroe County Lake

I grew up fishing this little lake, caught my first bass there, it was a little over 5, and like I said in my earlier reply I also caught two of my biggest ever there. The fall is tough on this lake, there are some shad in this lake but mostly they feed on crayfish and bluegills, etc. It should be clear but it will be tough as it is a very heavely fished lake and there are a lot of catch and keep there. It is not the lake it used to be but there is still some good fish there. I would throw topwater like a pop r and throw a buzz bait, also jigs are good on that lake, as far as water clarity and temp well if we have no big rains it will be gin clear, also it is time for it to turn over, also last year it got really low due to the drought and then this year it flooded. It will be tough but fun and have a good time. remember it is t motor only.
