You'd be better off to go somewhere else. Fished it the other evening and took 2 bites, caught 1 small bass. You might has well drive on to Cumberland and fish for KY's with a shaky head rig. I guarantee you'd have better luck.

hrm. anyone got a better place a little closer to lexington that anyone is doing decent at?
I have never fished it but have heard its the best bluegill lake in the state! Maybe at certain times I suppose.![]()
Used to fish Wilgreen twice a week. This time of year can be tough for all fish. You can drop the trolling motor and bluegill fish and catch 500 small ones but the big ones are on the bottom on shallow points with redworms. Lots of BIG shellcracker in there as well just hard to find.
As far as the bass go, good luck. I always had luck with a crankbait in deep brush or a worm crawled on the bottom slow. If that does not work throw a trick worm in shade under bushes or along rock banks around any cover you can find and beat the heck out of it. This lake is fished to death so you have to think outside of the box sometimes. If you do go, give me a report when you get back. I may head down there in a week or so. Hope this helps.
