KDFWR instituted an emergency size and creel limit change early September. I can not find where those measures have been changed back to normal at this point.
Under those changes, the size limit was dropped to 22" with a mandatory keep of any fish over the limit. That makes it illegal to catch and release a legal keeper fish. The creel limit is still two fish per person by means of rod and reel. They did change the creel limit to three extra fish per person by means of netting a surfacing fish that would die anyway. OR, the creel limit of five per person by sole means of netting the dieing fish.
Having said all of this, its my understanding that the fish kill is over so the opportunity to net is not there any longer. So for all intents and purposes, the five fish creel limit is over. The question is, whether the 22" size limit is still in place along with the mandatory keep rule.
thank goodness the kill is over, havent seen a floating striper or walleye for over a week now. it is my understanding the 22 inch size limit is still in effect and the mandatory 2 keepers and reel em up and quit is still in effect. as a side note; im pretty sure the KDFWR is very aware of the fish kill being over and a limit of five fish might be suspect......not getting into anybodys business or anything.....just might be hard to explain if all five of the stripers have big hook gouges in their mouth.......?![]()
