Personally, I like it like this.. almost guarantees me the whole lake to myself
doubt that would ever happen, the water plant people and some folks that live around there would like to see it closed off all together.it is good really,i like to walk it in the fall, and it is kind of its own savior,if boats could get on it all time it wouldn't be worth fishin.this down time lets the fish get a rest.

What the lake needs is some more restrictions and monitoring especially during "pleasure boat time". It amazes me what idiots they are.

I can't see one reason why the folks around there and the treatment plant would want it closed right now. It's not like there is tons of boats or traffic from the lake going by the 3 houses. If I wasn't towing a boat they would never know I was there... I'm not driving by crazily and throwing my garbage out the window or cranking my stereo on the lake or throwing all my trash and beer cans in the lake and my engine isn't loud.. matter of fact unless they see my truck or me out there that they wouldn't even know i'm there.

The fish get plenty of rest in the winter and in the summer since they are down so deep and it's not like they get fished really hard as it is. This year I have been out there probably at least 3 days a week since april and there hasn't been really much fish action so the fish should be in good shape and the ones I have caught lately are.

I don't want to be a jerk and say there shouldnt be any pleasure boating out there but really there shouldn't be. There is way too much debris and the lake is just way to skinny and short to be a real safe place. At least limit the number of ski boats at a time and for god sakes patrol the lake when they are out there drinking and boating and swimming right in the middle with 10 other boats trying to ski around them.

I guess it doesnt matter to me since I am heading to fl in a week or so but would be nice too see the lake be a good safe fishing lake.

well they kinda do the limit, they limit the number of permits, and they did hire a fellow to patrol a little more, the only reason i know they wanted to close it was the garbage, and all the partying there at the dock.they wanted to cut the road off so it wasn't a through road.
at one point there were fridges, stoves couches, tires an many other large items threw in there just above the dock.even about 40 bales of junk hay, right by the ramp.and then go up by the dam where the bank fisherman fish,it is a mess most of time.same ol same, some people just try an ruin everything, year before last someon picked up the garbage while the water was down,i counted over 60 bags just on the east side from dam to ramp.good luck in fla.

I just drove by and....ummmm....no way in blazin' he## my boat is getting in there. There enough water to maybe cover your foot and that's it. Also, some idiot dumped a deer gutpile at the ramp.

I drove by to and it is pretty low but I can still get in there, might even drive down the bank and put in if needed. That was a nice gut pile, gotta love it.

I agree with the trash but again that can be helped some what with some occasional patrols, I really don't see the point of the patrol coming first thing in the am since the people there are more than likely in good standing. They should do the patrol late afternoon so they can check for trash and drinking boat drivers also for all the people on bank and camping on dock impeding boats putting in or out and littering everywhere. That's my favorite especially when coming in and they think the dock is their personal fishing pier.. I just started running over lines.

I'll probably head out there tomorrow for some solitude

Got out there this afternoon and yeah its low but there is a lil bit of a groove that's deeper and got me out there. I did have to push over some spots with the oar. Coming in was a bitch tho since it was dark and I got out of the groove and stuck for a few minutes but once back in the groove i got back and wenched the goofy lil boat up.

The fishing wasn't as good as its been but still picked up 34 bass and lost a good dozen or so.

If you wanna go out this week before I leave pm me and we can meet out there and i can pick you up at the corner if I dont need help getting in. If the land dries some I can just drive down to waters edge and the boat with motor is only 300 lbs so fairly easy to lift if need be. It only has a 9.8hp so it would break any speed records but it will get the job done.

I really appreciate the invite...really I do but the kids are out of school this week and the next and the wife doesn't get home til around 6 so I doubt I'll be able to meet you. WE are hitting Taylorsville tomorrow or Thursday pretty much just to get them out of the house and have some fun. Gonna go jugging but can't make my mind up where. I'm kinda burnt out on Van Buren. I may try the hump or one the sharp turns on the lake.

    Thanks again

    Re: Sympson

    no prob

It's funny tho because no one believes you can catch fish like that in there because no one usually catches anything (including me) and now when you can basically go out and catch 10 fish/hr no one can go... funny how that works!

Cant help you with juggin... if I'm going juggin it isn't that kinda jugs
