Thanks for the info from all. Read the guide reports and from what they said it sounded like everywhee you turn there were massive jumps going on.

So right now, to fish jumps look to the back of the creeks, look for the shad schools there. Right?

Has anbody seen any jumps out on main lake? I might be down Sunday, or Monday or Tuesday and can't decide if ramping in at the ramp to look for jumps in main lake and back up passed Grider, and or in Beaverr/Otter is best

or

If I'd be better off going in at Jamestown, and trying Wolfe, Lilly, Caney Greasy, Pumpkin area.

Lots of choices. Last week and the week before I saw jumps in the main lake from Rowena up toward Jamestown. I did not fish any of them but from what I have been hearing they are smaller fish, some keepers in there though. Not sure if they are jumpin very far up the creeks but probably some in the lower 1/3 of the creeks--that is sort of speculation.

Jamestown area was blowing up for over a week. The week before I fished from Tuesday through Sunday and they were jumping every morning on the main lake. I did not see any in the back of the creeks but then again I never went back in them they were in the main lake. Umbrella rigs worked great after the jumps went down. The jumps were happening for any where from 1 hr to 3 hrs depending on the day. If I was you I would go out of Jamestown and turn left, doll flys white/green and white tail worked best. Pop and reel up slack, pop and reel up slack, slow rolling or burning it back will produce zero fish must be popping it.

Went out of Jamestown Friday and Saturday mornings and evenings. Jumps were up in the morning Thursday, but saw none Friday morning. Did see jumps Friday and Saturday evenings. Morning session 6 to 9 am, evening the same. Areas we saw fish surface feeding were directly out from Jamestown, to the far side of the lake, either right out in front of the cove on the far side, or down the clay banks along the area I call the Hog Pen, and Elvis Tree leading down toward Governor's Cove.

Lures that worked included chrome Zora Spook, Spro Jigs in white 2 ounce or 1 ounce with white grub curly tails, Striper Swiper poppoer plugs up to 4 inches long, and Hopkins spoons. Jumps were not massive but I'd say areas of about 100-200 foot going up. Seemed to stay up for about 3-5 minutes, and came back up about every 15 minutes or so.

Did throw flitters for awhile and got zilched on them. Spooks and Spro Jigs just worked best for me. Fish caught ran 18-24 inches. Not hogs, but still a lot of fun. We did catch and release on all and they all swam away and dove as soon as oriented and released. What temp ran from 69 to 71 degrees at surface.

Fog in Am both days made for spectacular scenery as the sun burnt it off and prolonged the surface action. Example, when the fog burned off at main lake, you could still run into them mouth of Wolfe, or Lilly as example, and have great low light conditions.

Saturday from Jamestown, it looked like some kind of toruney going out. Or maybe just a very large gudie gig. Anyway, not conflicts on the lake with other boats, and really a good trip.

Fun thing, Saturday, late afternoon 1/2 way up to Harmony Creek, one of those 50-60 foot Lake Cumberland "BATTLESHIP TYPE CRUISERS" came by. He was well into the motors and throwing a wake that I'd guess stood 4-5 foot tall. On the pontoon we used to run from that. In the Raider, I headed in, cut the trough the wrong way on purpose, stuffed the bow in the trough, blew a wall of white water well out over the roof, and sat inside dry to the bone. I love this thing. Dry seats in the morning, wipers to chase the fog off the windshield, small heater kkeeps tha cabin warm so that in 45-55 degree mornings, we ran around in short sleeves. I am now officially spoiled! And during a run well up in Otter Creek and going thru a small gap in an Island, discovered this thing can run without hitting the bottom in as little as 2.4 feet of water. (measured by a Hummingbird, results may vary)

Bob it seems our string is broke between our two cans. But it seem's those little schoolies can be picky on what they eat.
You may be thankful for those last of the year "Ohio Navy" boats for making a mud line on the main lake flats.
Our good friend Lance has been having good results later in the day botom fishing with a 40-36-32 inch fish to top off the limit the past two day's.

Side note: those pesky 5/6# Smallies will steal you're bait.

Well they got the best of me this weekend. I fished Sat and Sunday mornings from sun-up to about 9:30 each day. No bites or fish for me. Reports I heard was it was tough all week with a few zeros by most people I talked to. As Pro V said a couple fish were caught finally bottom fishing.

Saw limited jump activity on main lake in the middle of "nowhere" on the West end. Didn't last more than 30 seconds and gone by the time I got there. I concentrated from Rowena to the mouth of Indian bank to bank.

Didn't mess with bait and I planned to jump fish if possible so I just pulled U-rigs and downrigs for a couple hours each morning. My plan didn't work out. Most of the bigger returns I saw on graph were close to 60 ft deep and I never marked any large schools.

Same here. Zero for two days of "trying everything" fishing. Even ran to the head of Otter to net some Treadfins and they did not produce either. Plenty of jumps Monday from the mouth of Beaver across the lake to the north bank but relatively small and short lived. Mainly fished 45 to 60 feet deep and had what appeared many lookers. Early fished shallower 20 to surface and caught one 16 incher. Putting in at rowena heard bait and fish on the surface the first day so got there early Monday and cast for them for 1.5 hours before daylight to no avail.Tthe surface activity sounded just like it does in the spring, scattered, but the same. Maybe they were gar or something,thought saw a striper dorsal fin but it was dark.

It's usually a sign they are transitioning. Did anyone try the creeks? They usually pack up pretty quickly in the fall when they make the transition. Seems a little early but it seemed late last year. I'd probably stop fishing for them if I could ever figure them out. OK, not..

This time last year I was pulling free line boards in the heads of the creeks - seemed like they moved back there early LY - it was the shortest downrigging season I can ever remember. Check out my old post on that other board.

Clayton got 4 bottom fishing in the middle of Indian on a steep rocky bank. Lance got his on a shallow flat main lake point - including a nice 40 incher. Go figure.

Not sure if I'll get a chance at em again this fall - plan to make my annual trip to TN for a long weekend in November and that gets my blood pumpin a little more... something about pulling 2 lb bait in potential world record water that keeps you on the edge of your seat all day.
