I know a lot of you guys are preparing for winter fishing and being prepared is the key to an enjoyable day on the water in the cold winter months. There a few basic things you should do.
Dress in a four, loose layer system. Don't use cottom. Wear newer synthetics which will wick perspiration away from your body. Wool is excellent for outter layers. Coats and shells should repell wind and water and be breathable.
Seventy percent of body heat is lost through your head so wear good head protection.
At high boating speeds, the cornea of your can freeze so wear eye protection.
Eat well. Eat complex carbs like rice, beans, wheat breads and pastas. Drink approximately a gallon of water per 24 hours to transport nutrients, flushout waste by-products and maintain temperature regulation.
Next, make sure you get at least 8 hours of sleep per 24 hours. This keeps the body repaired and fresh when out on the water.
