I would like to get in a tournament but know nothing about them

You also might want to took at the KBFN they have a non-boater category you can enter where you just show up and get paired up with a guy and you fish out of the back of the boat...It's a great learning experience. It will help you become a better fisherman and will also help you understand the basic layout of a tournament and how they work....I was a non boater for three years now next year I am moving up to the boater's side. It's been a great expereince I feel like I've increased my fishing knowledge and abilities by 1000% since I started with the KBFN. Great group of guys too!
would like to fish a tournament but know nothing about it help!
i have a boat
start small in an open club tournament with a low entry fee. see if you can build your experience to where you can catch fish in any conditions. when you have confidence move up. know and obey the rules.
I assumed you did, I do as well but it is easier if you've never fished a tournament before to learn the ropes as a non-boater.
go down to the bottom of the discussion page and open the forum jump and click on what state you want and look at the tournaments boards.

Questions i have to ask: 1st do you have a boat or are you looking to be a non boater? 2nd do you get addicted to the spirit of competition while having a blast? Then don't do it - it is ver addictive lol
Your best bet is a small club for more of a fellowship type get together, if you are wanting more hard core then look at the BFL's as a co-angler for a year or two to get your feet wet and you will also learn a ton. If you are at the lake and see a club fishing or weighing in (usually around 2 or 3pm) ask one of them and they will be happy to assist. Buddy tournaments are a fun way to go too you and a buddy fish together splitting expenses and having a blast (note a good partner is very hard to find so be warned)
ya i have a boat and want to do a tournament but have any ideal about it i live on cumberland
x2
I did it that way, and pretty much all my buddies did too, I used my boat to find a lure they would hit regularly and come tourney time I wasn't let down.
