i heard from a guy i know............... absolutely nothing. but i guess you already knew that.
bump... just in case someone was there this weekend... goin down in the morning
If I were you, I would look for somewhere else to go. I just checked the COE site and Barren was turned over on the 4th. The water temp was 72 degrees from top to bottom and the oxygen was 2.5 from top to bottom. In my experience, Barren usually takes about two weeks to settle down after the turnover, then it really turns on, especially in the creeks.

had goodluck down there this week, everyday we had anywhere from 12-18 pounds. we were catching them in 10-15 ft of water on the rocks.
Hey, Rock, I would be interested to know what part of the lake you were in. I know the Corps takes their reading near the dam so that is where I got the info that it had turned over. That is usually that last area to turnover so up river and the creeks must have turned earlier and already have the fish turned on.
Thanks for reporting, depending on where you were at, I may go later this week myself.

Just got home. Today was a bust for me. Saw lots of shad up skaggs creek again, but nothing hittin em on the surface. And the fish finder was a desert all day. I saw very few fish and couldnt seem to locate em... water was murky up river (1ft or less visibility) but cleared up as we moved toward the dam.
Only good fish was a kentucky bass on a jerk bait. probaby 8ft deep in 12-15ft of water. The bank had huge chunk rock. Missed a good fish on the rip rap banks at Baileys Point draggin a carolina rig... still workin on that hook set...
If it already turned over it has recovered a LOT... i hope to go back in two more weeks and try again. Hope the drawn down positions the fish for me...
Thanks for the report. It is interesting that you and therock caught fish because usually the fish are not active/biting until after the Turnover. From your description of the water I looks like the lake is finished turning over and on the upswing. I hope so, I love to fish Barren in the Fall.

Well that settled it for me, was going to go this morning, but will just wait till some cloudy weather.
Grumpy - I was there friday and Saturday and the water by the dam looked the worst. The water up by skaggs looked a lot better than by the dam. Water has definetly turned. We had a tough time getting bites. Thanks for the report. It is interesting that you and therock caught fish because usually the fish are not active/biting until after the Turnover. Fished in a Club Tournament at Barren last weekend, the bite was tuff! I won with a 2 day weight of 7 pounds, 5 fish. Caught all from the same buff wall in the second bend north of the Narrows. Caught several small ones on a DT 6 and DT 10 Black and Silver on Sat. Sat. caught 1 Spot, 1 Slot, and 1 17" LM. Sun I only caught 1 Slot that was 14" and that was the only bite for the day.Just got home. Today was a bust for me. Saw lots of shad up skaggs creek again, but nothing hittin em on the surface.
