Never, ever, ever, run your outboard without water. Just 5 seconds can ruin your impellor.

    Re: HELP!!!

I love the strips on my 21' cc. I spend quite a bit of time in the saltwater, so ramps are often times "shallow" or not long enough before it drops off a ledge. All I have to do is get the tips of my bunks in the water, start the engine, and pull off. The same goes for putting on.

But to answer your question, if i'm on a good ramp I pull on the trailer, leave it in gear to hold it in place, and lean over the front to connect. You should be able to reach your winch and pretty much tighten it all the way up. Then go back and shut everything down as you normally would.

Oh BTW, for those of you who have the sliders, DO NOT unhook your boat until you are backed into the water. I have seen several boats on the ramp where guys have taken their straps off and the boat slides off the trailer. Same goes for those of you running rollers for your river boats. Be careful when you do unhook because your boat might try to slide off without you!

    Re: HELP!!!

I put these strips on my bunk boards as well. Same situation in that the boat slid back off on steep ramps. I ended up using 2 strips on both sides instead of the 4 the package came with. Just enough to help the boat load but not enough for it to slide off the trailer.
