Seasonal Lake Turnover

Its that time of year again and people start wondering about Lake Turnover. There has already been one thread with mention and discussion of it. I thought I would share a couple of sites that I found years ago that, I think, pretty well cover the subject. For anyone interested, go to:

So you don't have to look it up 4 Decrees centigrade is 39 degrees Farenhite (sp) and 10 C is 50 F. Note that both of these articles are written with NORTHERN lakes in mind and the weather is generally much cooler/colder there than in KY and South of us. Also note that they say there are many variations on depth, temperatures, etc that need to be considered when talking about the Turnover.

This Summer caused a prime example of the variations in that it was very hot and the local lakes were much hotter than normal which means that the Turnover will be at much higher temperatures than usual, e.g in the mid-60s (and maybe even 70s) versus the mid to low 50s where it usually turns over around here.
