If you buy lead from a scrap yard you must clean the lead first. Melt your lead and then use candle wax about the size of a peanut and stir it in. BE SURE TO USE A LONG HANDLE AND A HEAVY PAIR OF GLOVES. SAFETY GOGGLES ARE A MUST. IT WILL START TO SMOKE AND FLAME UP. Once it is done it will bring all of the impurities up to the surface take a spoon and scrape it off. Repeat the step with the wax.
Now you should have good lead.
