Thanks for that report Paul. I need to get back into fishing. Been too busy hunting Coyotes and getting the house organized.
After I chop up all the leaves in the yard I plan on doing something outdoors. Hopefully I'll be able to get rid of the 1/4 lb of minnows I bought last week and didn't use. I got on the water at Loon Pit and it started to thunder and lightening and it rained.
All summer long it does not rain and the one day I go fishing it rains and we get a thunderstorm. LOL
Perhaps I should have gone fishing more often this summer and we would not be in this drought!
My boat is only 15' 11" long so hopefully I can navigate the Otter Pit launch ramp. I don't have 4 wheel drive though so I'll make sure to bring a tow rope or my come-a-long with me to haul my truck out of the algae on the ramp.
I got stuck on the ramp once and could not get out because of the algae on the concrete. The more I tried to pull out the more I slipped back into the water. I had to stop trying until I found someone who could pull my truck out of the water. I'll never forget that experience as long as I live. Water was about to enter the lower part of my door to the truck cab. The exhaust was under water and the only thing keeping the water from coming into the exhaust pipe was the motor gases exiting out the pipe's end.
Since that time I have figured out a way to keep the algae on the concrete under control. Not sure if anyone has noticed but the concrete launch ramps at Bluegrass F& W area are not covered with algae like the ramp at Lynville, IN's park. That concrete launch ramp is covered with slick algae and it's a hazardous ramp to try to walk on. I wish that Warrick County Parks Dept would do something to rid the concrete launch ramp of the algal growth.
