Don't get me wrong, I am not against discipline - but if spanking is your only form a discipline, then that is when issues arise. I do think possitive reinforcement has a far greater value than a consequence type discipline (not just speaking in terms of spanking) - but I think both have a place in a raising well rounded children.

I was talking more in terms of the views on islam, than the views on spanking. I Don't totally agree with spanking, but I am not one to say you should never spank your child. I got them on occassion (I needed more than I got), and I turned out OK. But I do think there are better options, and there is plenty of data backing that up. I didn't really contradict myself - you can have consequence punishments that do not involve physical contact. However, being totally honest with myself, I seriously doubt I will make it through parenthood of twins without ever giving one of them a swat on the butt.

Women in the Muslim countries where 90% of terrorists come from are property to be covered head-to-toe and openly beaten, or even killed. Hard to see how so many people can drum up enough time to hate infidels when they're so busy banging their foreheads off prayer mats several times a day.

After traveling by air for 30 years, the last 10 of them I find myself keeping a close eye on certain fellow passengers. Rather be knifed than crashed into a building full of innocent people, and I don't think I'm alone there.

No liberal network has near the biased reporting, shows, or overall programming as Fox News. It was originally intended to be THE "fair and balanced" news program in the 90's when it started, but during the Bush years, and especially since Obama's tenure it has veered more and more to the conservative side, and now is THE most biased news program. I read a study on CNN vs. Fox in terms of guests on shows. It was something like FOX news had over 85% of their guests representing the conservative agenda compared to CNN's 40% - I will try to dig that study up - of course it was probably a biased study.

As far as O'Reily - I couldn't find the exact clip on youtube, but it is there I have seen it. Here is an article talking about it. It was a fairly recent interview.

But more seriously, no I do NOT approve of this. I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear in my original thread. I thought I was making myself clear that hitting a child, even spanking, is completely wrong and in our society spanking is seen as ok. It is disgusting, yet most individuals do it. Don't bash an entire religion because of a ruling that has similarities with our OWN culture. Now, I would hope that we all share in the fact that beating a woman is wrong, and deserves to have a baseball bat beaten through his skull.

Now I don't care about whether you are being PC or not. You don't think I have that same hatred for those individuals responsible for those attacks and future attacks? One of my good friends throughout my childhood moved to the outskirts of the city and his father was killed in the towers, so don't try and preach me about hatred about those events and all events that have followed. But I am smart enough to realize that it is not the doing of the vast majority of that religion. Like I said, EDUCATE yourself. It wasn't that long ago when we as a nation did not treat our most vulnerable members very well. We changed and so can they.

Back to the topic more specifically...remind me on my next vacation planning to not go to the UAE..didn't they imprison a couple for kissing in public? I'm glad we have some resemblence of separation between faith and government.

The problem is this Steve.....the UAE is one of the most MODERATE Islamic countries in the world. If one of the MOST moderate can have their "Supreme Court" rule like this...then YES, I CAN and will JUDGE the ENTIRE MUSLIM FAITH based on this ruling.........they are all CRAZY RADICAL FREAKS. There gubment sanctions this, their Imams sanction this, their Supreme Court sanctions this.

Until the WEST is willing to deal with this REALISTICALLY........we will continue to see an erosion of western values, and an inclusion of Muslim values.
