Agree with you wholeheartedly MsgMills. Myself I see nothing wrong with a firm swat on a childs behind if he runs out into traffic or something serious where he could get hurt. But thats it.

Another reason I have to hate Islam. They condone violence against women and children. Any society and religion that allows this violence is not a God or Allah loving faith. Violence breeds violence. I goggled Muslims and why is it that they dont get along with anybody else. They pretty well hate and dont get alongwith any other religious faiths. I guess that is why they can find volunteers to fly airplanes into buildings or stap 50lbs of dynomite on their chest and walk into subways or buses or buildings and blow themselves up. NO respect for life in that society. Just my 2 cents.

Alright, that ruling is pretty ridiculous. And swatting a child on the rear end actually does more harm than good. There are various psychological studies that have been presented recently that shows those children that were spanked end up having lower IQs. If you combine that with the knowledge we already know about punishment versus reinforcement, it is clear that punishment should be used much more sparingly than it is used today. If you really want to have a child or any individual learn something, i.e. right and wrong, then you reinforce the good behavior much more strongly than you punish the bad. This is something society has had backwards for a long time, and it is saddening.

Now to this post about Islam as a whole. I cannot understand why we, as Americans, have so much hate for this religion and why we continue to make up reasons as to why Islam is about violence. Firstly, I am from an extremely small town in the Midwest, and have rarely socialized with individuals outside of our belief system. That being said, the few Muslims I have talked to are overwhelmingly compassionate and intelligent. We need to realize that those bad images we see on tv are 90% caused by EXTREMISTS. There is no need to hate an entire religion because of what some outcasts of that religion do. We need to educate ourselves on other religions and cultures, something us Americans do not do very well. We judge by what we see on the corporate-run media and the hate-filled speech we read on the internet. To really understand a culture or religion you have to socialize with those individuals and try to understand them, which we don't do so well. We judge and if it isn't what we believe in, then it is wrong. This is why we have NO relations with any other nations in the world. I love our way of living, but what we believe in isn't necessarily right and what others believe in isn't necessarily wrong.

I love how idealistic you are as I was like that when I first came out of university. The world was a beautiful place full of loving people and if I was Christian to all they would love me back. WRONG> I learnt the hard way life is not that way all the time.

If you are referring to my post, YES I am not politically correct and say what is on my mind. I learnt that through life also. I hate with a passion terrorists of any faith and am especially hateful of the bid laden followers for Sept 11th attacks on America, 2 major attempts on Canada that were stopped and bombings in England, Spain, Africa to name a few.

However, I am referring here to the topic of this thread which is violence approved by Islam against women and children. Do you approve of this? You say it is ridiculous but that is a complete understatement of how these women and children are treated like dirt in Islam. Maybe not over in North America but in their own countries. I saw tv footage of the Taliban beating women in public with lead pipes. I was appauled and shocked by this.

A wise man once said " A society is ultimately judged by how it treats its weakest most vulnerable members"

So how will Islam be judged by how they treat women and children.

No my dear friend I was not offended infact I take it as a great compliment. Its great when we find others who we think the same as we do. We would have tons to discuss. Heck no I didnt take it as fresh as all. Remember I worked in a prison for 7 years with mostly men and I have heard everything. You were very nice and it made me smile when you said it. I had to take my mother out to run errands and supper so I didnt have time to respond. Just got home and reading it now. Dont forget chilled Molson Canadian, eh?
