Paul,

The Kentucky Bass Federation and the Kentucky Bass Federation Nation both have a junior trail in Kentucky. Both usually fish 4 regular season qualifiers within the state. There are different regions in the state and they fish in each every year. Then you qualify for the state championship that is held at the end of every year. In both groups you are able to qualify for the national level junior tournaments such as the National Guard Junior World Championship held at the same time as the Forrest Wood Cup and the B.A.S.S. JWC that is held at the same time as the Federation Nation National Champ. Both are great organizations and I encourage you to get your son involved. I'm 17 and have been fishing in these programs since 7th grade and have loved every minute of it. I would also like to mention another great youth level event that is growing in popularity, the TBF Highschool Fishing program. Once he gets into highschool whether his HS will support it or not he can be involved in the Highschool Fishing program and can fish in the Highschool Fishing World Finals if his grades are good enough. The first ever was held in Russellville, AR this past summer and it was awesome. I would like to see y'all on the water next year. Send me a PM and i can get you directly in contact with the Presidents of both the KBF and KBFN so you can get him signed up.
