with the turnover happening it's a crapshoot from day to day now,i was catching them couple weeks ago at nolin around cover in 6-14 ft of water one day then a day or two later they was non existent, they had moved back out and supsended on the channel edge, from now until christmas, depending on weather they should be fairly shallow, tube and float around any cover should get nibbled,if not i tight line 1\32-1\8 jigs on the channel edges or drift minnows if they are un cooperative.when the water gets in the 40* range and dropping find cover on channel banks.with the high blue sky i was catching more from daylight til 1030 am then again about 5pm until dark, night may be even better.
Look for stumps and brush piles in mid depth water. I have been catching tons of fish the last 2 months around 9' deep, vertical jigging. They will move up and down to various depths throughout the day, depending on baitfish, and the sun. Look for water 12' to 20' with cover, and fish half way down. The bite has been really good lately.
Been slaying the crappie up at barren the last 3 weeks. yhisnweek has been a little slower but several very nice slabs and not too many throw backs. 10 to 12 foot deep on deeper brush piles. minnows are getting eaten up by the dozens!!!!
