Question about fishing in Alabama

I am in birmingham on business. I want to go fishing tomorrow, but do not know where to go. Where would you recommend i go within 50 miles? I do not have a boat, so pier of shore access. fishing for crappie or catfish or bluegill. any suggestions would be helpful.

not from there so no specific help but just about any retention pond you find will have big bluegills in them good luck
