Cedar Creek

The only thing I don't like about Cedar Creek is that there are always a ton of boats on it. Those fish get a lot of pressure. All the keepers I have caught are always really skinny. Although I have never fished it during the spawn/spring. I won a tournament out there a while back and I had a keeper that was 23 in keeper that only weighed 5 lb even.

I would agree 100% with you there is a lot of pressure, I fish it every Sat and Sunday. It seems that less people are bass fishing and more crappie fishermen are down there probably cause the cold. The size of the bass are good but the weight just isn't there. How does the tournaments work, just the biggest fish or two 20 inch fish because of the rule of only 1 keeper per person per day? 90% of the people that I have talked to on the water are really nice and polite about not running ten foot from you with the motor wide open, but there are that 10% that just act like they could care less that anyone else is on the water and that they are more important so the can cut you off or almost throw you out of the boat. Common courtesy goes a long way!

Yeah the tourny was just one fish over 20in. I have never really caught any good fish after dark out there. Even in the dead of summer the fish seem to feed during the day. In my opinion that is a strange little lake. I think all that timber has the fish scattered out so much its hard to target one place that they hold. I agree with you about the the people who run wide open out there. I think the only place you should be able to run is from the ramp to the main row of trees(railroad bed), after that people should slow down, the lake isn't big enough to run wide open all the time.

Thanks I will keep that in mind for the next tourney that rolls around, I know I steer clear of it when there is one. I just mainly fish cause I like it and not to compete, I have never fished one. Night fishing seems to be to hard because of the stick up but some days it's hard enough with the sunlight ha ha.

Went out to Cedar today. Pretty much a cold, rainy miserable day. I didn't get a hit all day. The water color was almost pitch black. I am assuming they are turning the water over. Does anyone know how long it takes for this to occur? A week? Two weeks?

It is my understanding that lake turnover is temperature driven. The top warmer portion of the lake gets colder than the deeper normally cooler portion of the lake and since cold water sinks and warm water rises the two portions if the lake switch positions. So being temperature and weather driven I don't think there is a normal time period for this to happen. If the weather stays cooler I assume that it with complete the turnover process pretty soon. I do know that when this us happening fishing is VERY VERY tough

I went out yesterday in the cold, put in at daybreak and scooted across from the ramp to a cove fished caught one small one a a crank, then another bigger one about 17 in next to the bank on a chartreuse and white spinner. beboped down the lake a little to the road bed down the channel and threw a lipless down the road bed next to the two trees and caught another that was about 17in. after that it was rough, about 12 i went back under the bridge and along that channel and was throwing a cabin creek thumper spinner and caught like 5 more one broke the line because I'm a tard and didn't have the drag set out on my baitcaster. all and all a good day. cold. but a good day. the lake does have that black tent to the water and isnt as clear as it normally is. hope this helps =)
