"wouldn't commit" the word for KY lake right now for me - top waters had a fish hit the bait twice and never opened his mouth. The smaller fish are more aggressive but the bigger ones are in kill mode and non commital.

You are correct when you say the bigger ones are in kill mode, when fish bust bait on top they are not eating it right away, they stun it then when it slows and falls they eat it, I learned this from watching hybrids on barren, they would hit the bait then if you let it sit they would come back and eat it sometimes, and sometimes they ate it when they hit but like stripers they bust to stun then they eat, this is why flukes and jerkbaits work when fished below a school. The bigger ones did not get fat by working hard to get meals they let the younger ons do all the work themn they reap the rewards, kinda like some people. lol. This has been a strange year for fishing due to all this varied weather we have seen this year and it has been hit/miss but that is why it is called fishing not catching. Peace
