If you go back to the tax cuts of Kennedy Reagan Clinton and Bush the government revenues increased and every tax increase the revenues went down. I can assure you Bush tax cuts did not cause this recession we had some of the best growth during the first six years of the Bush presidency. Then we get a Democrat congress for the last two years and Pelosi stand up and says we will have no more expensive gas we will have a much better economy and guess what went he other way.
Two things led up to our problems with Bush he did not control spending he should have used his veto pen when he got the democratic congress. And number two was the cost of the war.
It is time to understand the government is not the answer to all problems other than the military tell me one entity the government controls that is ran well.
We need more than 52% of the people paying taxes. We need a flat tax on spending that rewards savings and every one pays some tax. If the 48% of Americans who do not pay taxes (and Obama says it is the patriotic thing to do) paid just $200 it would amount to 30 billion dollars per year.
We need to realize we can make better decision on how to spend money than the government can.
We need to let the states do more than the federal government. The closer you are to the politicians the more bang for your buck. If you look at your local government the tax you pay for fire police ambulance etc it is fairly good investment and you have fairly good control over local politicians. Then you go to the state their is more waste and less control then you go to the federal government and it is atrocious.
When it is said smaller government it means fewer taxes at the federal level and less intervention. You may have to increase state and local government and will probably have to spend some of your tax cuts at these levels but you will not have all the waste and corruption and more control.
