    Dale or Ky Lake

Gonna go Tuesday through Friday but which has turned on. I went two weeks ago to both and had a rough time on both. Has either changed since Ky Lake has been humbling fishermen this Fall. Rick Hise....has Dale turned on drifting shiners? Not looking for spots, just average info. Heck, sounds like I need to research Nolin.

KY has been real tough. Got a report today and not too many keepers. Should get better next week after the cold front. Dale is feast or famine but when you find them it is real good. I did hear of some better results at Nolin earlier in the mornings but I don't fish there much so can't really confirm that. Good luck

I was on Dale Sunday with Shimano4life on here and we caught them pretty good. Ended the day with 15 or so all on football jigs. Smallmouth are really pulling right now. I would be going back this weekend but gotta work unfortunately. Most of the fish we caught were on the main lake or pockets or cuts just off of it.

We put in at the State Park and fished areas around there and a little ways into TN. We took a ton of bites and a bunch were swing and misses. They were pecking the jig really hard sometimes (trying to kill it) and wouldn't commit. Sometimes you would set the hook and they would be there for just a second then would pull off. If you saw the hook n' look show they filmed at Dale it was a similar bite. Fortunately we still boated a bunch and even saw a couple of eagles so it was a great day on the water. I'm sure with this cold spell the jig bite is only going to get better...Can't wait to get back down there.

"wouldn't commit" the word for KY lake right now for me - top waters had a fish hit the bait twice and never opened his mouth. The smaller fish are more aggressive but the bigger ones are in kill mode and non commital.

    Re: Dale or Ky Lake

You are correct when you say the bigger ones are in kill mode, when fish bust bait on top they are not eating it right away, they stun it then when it slows and falls they eat it, I learned this from watching hybrids on barren, they would hit the bait then if you let it sit they would come back and eat it sometimes, and sometimes they ate it when they hit but like stripers they bust to stun then they eat, this is why flukes and jerkbaits work when fished below a school. The bigger ones did not get fat by working hard to get meals they let the younger ons do all the work themn they reap the rewards, kinda like some people. lol. This has been a strange year for fishing due to all this varied weather we have seen this year and it has been hit/miss but that is why it is called fishing not catching. Peace
