"PLAY POLITICAL GAMES"? What the he.. do you think the dems did with the health care bill? It's ok for the dems to play political games but not the pubs? Changing house rules in the middle of the game? C'mon, I've read your posts and you have some valid points, but Cmon it's politics!

Not at all. I think both parties should be putting country before party. I think I've been pretty clear on that point in many posts. I don't like the political games that EITHER party plays. That is part of why we are in this mess. Both parties are to blame and both suk.

DH, you do realize that the 3000 is most likely waaay over estimated, and that many of the real number includes journalists, camera men, etc. that are covering the story? All of those folks pay their own way.

Good question Mark. Who the heck needs to travel with 3000 people? Another good question is to what end? A couple more. What is the purpose of the trip? What has been accomplished aside from whizzing away millions of dollars of taxpayer money?

The President's entourage on this trip is the most outlandish thing anyone has ever heard of. Then again everything Mr. Obama does has to be on a historically grand scale. Biggest government, biggest spending, biggest budget, biggest deficits, biggest joke.

While our president is over there stumbling over what to say about Muslims, the Bush tax cut issue sits idle and January looms.
And the statement that he's traveling with 3,000 people is one of the biggest lies ever. In reality, the trip is NOT costing more than the entire war effort in Afghanistan ($190 million/day). Even The Wall Street Journal says the report is "demonstrably incorrect." C'mon man, this originally came from ONE anonymous Indian official! Does that REALLY seem like a credible source to you??

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: If you want to criticize Obama, there's plenty of material to be found if you stick to the facts. There's no need to repeat ridiculous reports like that one.

As to the tax cuts, I believe that most will be extended. Probably not all of them.

Okay, question withdrawn. How many people were on the trip?

Your links refute $200 million a day yet they don't provide a FACTUAL figure. Why is that? Maybe it has something to with the FACT the whitehouse isn't saying. Your links also point out Bill Clinton made a trip at $5.6 million a day, but I don't see the relevance unless they're pointing out how good politicians are at wasting money.

I would criticize the trip with facts if this "most transparent administration in history" would provide any.

Congress has the normally useless lame duck session to address the tax cuts, and BTW none of the newly elected gets to participate. Maybe Mr. Obama will take another page out of Bill Clinton's playbook and bomb an aspirin factory to divert our attention. We'll see.

They probably aren't saying for the same reason you cannot get those figures for Bush, Clinton, and any other recent president: its classified information. That should have been your first clue that the original story was BS. How does some source in India have access to classified information? If the figures are correct, then someone better be doing some checking on how those figures got out cause it means we have someone at a pretty high level in government giving away classified info.

You might also consider the reasons for the trip before you pan the whole thing off as a waste of tax payer money. Part of the trip was to attend then G20 summit, other parts were discussing trade relations with India and other nations looking for American exports. You know, finding work for Americans. Another part of the trip dealt with extremists and how to deal with them. National security stuff. I kind of thought those were the kinds of things that we elected presidents to do. Not like this was just a vacation for the president at our expense. As several of us have suggested here and in other threads, there are plenty of real problems with the current adminstration. Keep harping on non-issues and you make the right seem aweful petty and without merit.

"...Maybe Mr. Obama will take another page out of Bill Clinton's playbook and bomb an aspirin factory to divert our attention..."

Yeah, thats what that was all about. Seriously? No president does the actual work of bombing or determining a target. The military does that. The thing that suks the worst about that whole deal was Newt being in on the plans in advance, saying nothing contrary until after the fact. Then the whole wag the dog deal was unleashed. This meant Clinton could find no support in Congress for trying to go after and neutralize al queda. You can thank Newt for events that happened after that.

Classified? Then how did they get exact numbers from Bill Clinton's trip?

An administration unwilling or unable to say how much something costs is a lot different than it being classified. Nowhere did the links he posted say anything about classified information.

IMO Our biggest export to India is jobs with American companies, but maybe I'm wrong.

Despite the odd timing, maybe the trip was worth it if he secures some legitimate deals. Once again, we'll see what he accomplishes.

I never heard the aspirin factory bombing was Newt Gingrich's fault. Hm...learn something new everyday. Poor old Bill, yet another Dem victimized by them mean old Republicans.

"...So how much did those trips cost? In the case of some Clinton trips, we have figures from a 1999 report by the U.S. General Accounting Office — now called the Government Accountability Office. The GAO said that Clinton’s trips to Africa, Chile and China in 1998 cost at least $42.8 million, $10.5 million and $18.8 million, respectively — not counting the still-classified cost of providing Secret Service protection..."

From the factcheck article that RoadToad linked above.

I never claimed that Newt was responsible for the bombing, please read that again.

Re: Mitch McConnell

I guess Mitch has a reason to be mad, his wife after all lost her job that George W gave her for raising so much for for Bushes election. with that being said 3 points and I promise to use good taste and not rant. 1. when obama took office was the country in the clear with out a single problem, I do not think so,2 when we had a war to fight there was no bidding no competion just a set fee from a club the he and **** were in. 3 Why cann't we sit down at a table, not Red,not Blue, but as a nation, and work to fix what we can and rewrite what we cann't. Wouldn't it be great to have the news the way it was in the early days, when the news told you what did happen that day, not the way they think should of happened, The news agencies now have agendas to twist every word, and then they tell you that you should belive them and not what we heard saw or even experinced. If what we need now are colors then heres a few they need to remember, Red, for the courage and blood our soldiers lost defending our flag,White for purity and hope, and blue for honor and loyalty. We have career politicions who have been there way to long, lets clear the smoke and mirrors, and fix our problems and quit listening to others who tell us what we thought we heard!
