Small weather events usually don't do much, however it will cause the water temps to fall some more and that is a good thing. Water temps and the bite are critical on C-land for smallmouth. In fact it is my number one factor when planning a fishing trip. When that water cools to low 60's and upper 50's you can bet one thing and that is the them ole brown fish will get plum nasty. They will come shallow ans start looking up, oh man how I love that.........
Well I have been on Cumberland the last 3 weekends and the water temp has dropped about 2 degrees a week. Which is pretty typical for Cumberland unless we have a long long cold weather spell and so far this year it's only been a few days here and there nothing long term. I can tell u that that last tournament we fished there was one 3+ lb smallie in every bag that came to the scales. But only one per sack the bite was better than the previous weeks but by no means the bite you get when the water temp is 55. As of last Sunday the surface temp was 68 at Jamestown. So in my opinion we still have about a month to go before the all mighty brownfish turns on

We caught several short smallies last thrsday on the main lake In pockets. Today we had zero. All lm and spots. Around fishing creek.
We caught some nice smallies the last few days chasing the striper jumps around the shoreline across from Beaver.
